You said: You wanted more appointments bookable online
We responded: We now make all GP routine appointments bookable online
You said: There are too many patients not attending appointments resulting in difficulties in getting appointments quickly enough
We responded: We write to all patients who DNA an emergency appointment. We now send text message appointment reminders to patients. The number of patients who did not attend their appointments has fallen by 44% between February and March and 16% again between March and April.
You said: There are difficulties getting though on the phones
We responded: We publish data on the no of phone calls we receive daily (average 600), we are encouraging patient on-line access to help you make appointments and order repeat medication on-line, we have recruited more staff to answer the phones and draft extra staff in at busy times
You said: You find it difficult to get an emergency appointment when you need one
We responded: Despite the national shortage of GPs, we have recruited 2 new doctors who start in August and September, a new Nurse Practitioner who starts in May and 2 new locum doctors, one who started in March and one who starts in April. We continue to keep our appointment availability under review.
You said: You’d like more toys for children to play with in the waiting room.
We responded: Toys are now available in both waiting rooms.
